Gloria L. Johnson is a Providence, RI native and has lived there most of her life, except for ten years as a Navy brat living in Virginia and Maryland. She graduated from Central High School in 1984 and attended Fisher College in Boston and Johnson & Wales in Providence. She is currently the Assistant Director of Loan Servicing at RI Housing, a role that requires monitoring collections, servicing of mortgage loans, loss mitigation and mortgage counseling. Prior to this role she worked at Santander Bank as an Operations Manager and Risk Analyst.
Gloria has a strong passion for serving the community, particularly in areas of affordable housing/homeownership and equitable education. Her community engagement includes formerly serving as Board President at West Elmwood Housing Development Corporation, and currently serves on the Board of YouthBuild Preparatory Academy and A Sweet Creation as well as a member of the Keep Forward Movement (KFM) community group. In addition, serves on the Community Leadership Council at Women & Infants Hospital and Community Advisory Board at Swearer Center (Brown University). She was also the Campaign Treasurer for the Kobi for Mayor, Providence Mayoral Campaign in 2018.
“I am focused on supporting and uplifting those in need in our Providence community. Over the last several years I have increasingly realized that economic disparities in Providence are extraordinarily unacceptable and I am honored to serve on the Board of CAPP to support the work to eliminate poverty.
